Curriculum
Grace Christian School’s comprehensive curriculum includes the A Beka Christian Curriculum, an academically accelerated and integrated spiraling curriculum.
Integrated Curriculum
An integrated system covers similar topics in all subject areas. For example, a student learning about cells in science might find the word "nucleus" on his/her spelling list. A student learning about W.W. II in History might find that his/her English homework includes a short story about a soldier in the war. The integrated approach helps to reinforce a student's mastery of all academic subjects.
Spiraling Curriculum
A spiraling curriculum is one that builds on previously learned material to assure mastery of each subject. Concepts introduced in second grade like multiplication and division, solving for "X", capitalization, and punctuation are continually reviewed by A Beka through the eighth grade year. Having such a well-developed foundation of knowledge prepares the student to grasp and master more advanced concepts.
Using the A Beka curriculum, our students have consistently scored high on the Iowa Standardized Tests each year.
Distinctively Christian
Grace Christian School stresses a biblical Christian worldview in all subjects. Special emphasis is placed on God's view of history and science, especially in the area of creation. High priority is placed on character development and biblical principals for living.
